Installing home battery storage offers the reassurance that you can maintain power during a grid outage. In the event of a power blackout, you can use the stored energy in your home batteries to power essential appliances (a Critical Load Panel may be required). When the grid fails, the battery backup circuit activates automatically, provided you have sufficient battery power.
All Grid-backup batteries are equipped with a built-in Transfer Switch. This feature activates instantly during a grid outage, switching your Critical Load Panel circuit to the backup circuit automatically, ensuring your essential appliances continue to run without interruption. It's so seamless you might not even realise a blackout occurred.
The battery can be charged from the grid at a chosen time, such as at night when electricity is cheapest. The stored power can then be used during peak times (usually morning and evening) when electricity rates are highest. The charging and discharging of the battery are fully programmable and automated, so once set up, you don’t need to do anything. This can significantly reduce your electricity bills.

The price includes a basic set of cables, protection disconnectors, and accessories needed for a fully operational system. User manuals and a connection diagram are included with your order. THE BATTERY BANK
WARNING: Never mix different batteries in the battery bank. All batteries must be the same type, size, and general age. Using an old, mismatched, or faulty battery can cause significant problems. NOTE: New batteries may act like old ones initially and need a few cycles to function correctly.
1. WHAT IS THE BATTERY BANK CAPACITY OF 8.4/11.0KWH ESS?
The 8.4/11.0kWh ESS uses four reliable AVON ADC12-EV175 or ADC12-EV230 12V deep cycle combined AGM GEL batteries, providing a total capacity of 8,400/11,040Wh (4x 175Ah or 4x 230Ah @12V in series). These maintenance-free batteries feature AGM construction with nano silica gel, improving performance and requiring no water or acid addition. They have 5%-10% higher capacity than similar products due to a patented structure design.
2. WHAT IS THE CYCLE LIFE OF THE BATTERY?
The AVON ADC12 battery is designed for over 600 cycles at 80% depth of discharge (DoD) and over 1200 cycles at 50% DoD, which is 1.5 times longer than other standard AGM batteries.
3. HOW CAN I GET THE LONGEST LIFESPAN FROM THE BATTERY?
- Keep the battery between 23°C and 27°C, away from water and heat.
- Do not store above 40°C or below −15°C for extended periods.
- Fully charge AGM batteries to 100% regularly to maintain capacity.
- Avoid charging in temperatures below 0°C or above 40°C.
- Discharge the battery no more than 80% to extend its life.
- Recharging fully to 100%, recharging as soon as possible and avoiding complete discharge can prevent permanent capacity reduction. Discharge to 20-30% or higher to prolong its useful life.
4. WHAT ARE THE BATTERY CARE AND STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS?
- Store batteries between -15°C and +40°C.
- Avoid placing batteries directly on concrete floors.
- Store batteries in a cool (temperatures must be above freezing) dry location unpacked or in the original packaging.
- Perform a refresher charge every 3-4 months during long storage periods to avoid excessive discharge.
- Self-discharge will occur at varying speeds depending on temperature: 4.5 months at 40°C, 9 months at 30°C, 15 months at 20°C, 23 months at 10°C.
5. WHEN TO CHARGE MY AGM BATTERY?
- Charge AGM batteries any time they are not fully charged.
- Consult the battery manufacturer’s manual for the correct charging method.
- Charge the battery monthly during periods of disuse.
6. WHAT TO DO IF THE BATTERY BANK LOSES POWER TOO QUICKLY?
- Check for high-power electrical appliances connected to the system.
- The 8,400/11,040Wh battery capacity typically lasts about 6.7 or 8.8 hours, respectively, when powering a 1000W appliance from 100% to 20% discharge.
DC TO AC INVERTER
1. WHAT DOES A POWER INVERTER DO?
A power inverter converts battery power into mains power, changing 48V direct current (DC) into 230V alternating current (AC). This 230V AC is the standard power supplied to homes and is needed by most household appliances like lights, TVs, and fridges. There are two main types of inverters:
- Off-grid inverters: Work independently and require batteries (used in caravans, boats, or places without mains power).
- On-grid or grid-tie inverters: Need mains power to function (they are used in household solar systems, directly taking input from solar panels)
The 8.4/11.0kWh ESS uses the ICONICA 6000W 48V Hybrid Pure Sine Wave Inverter, which can create a home 230V grid.
2. WHAT TYPE OF INVERTER IS USED IN THE 8.4/11.0KWH ESS?
The 8.4/11.0kWh ESS uses a pure sine wave inverter rated at 6000W. This inverter provides up to 6000W output in a smooth sine wave, similar to utility-supplied power. It smoothly switches polarity between power cables, which is essential for alternating current.
3. KEY FUNCTIONS OF ICONICA 6000W 48V HYBRID INVERTER:
- 6000W 48V Pure sine wave inverter: Converts DC to 230V AC to power household appliances like TVs, laptops, fridges, microwaves, and lights. It can handle continuous power up to 6000W and peak power up to 12000VA (for starting appliances with electric motors like pumps and power tools). 6. WHY USE A 48V BATTERY BANK AND 48V DC TO 230V AC INVERTER?
A 48V system offers important benefits:
- The input current for the inverter is four/two times smaller for 48V than for 12V or 24V, making the system safer and more reliable.

The cables between the battery and the inverter can be thinner compared to those for a 12V or 24V system.

The inverter can send data to an online portal using a Wi-Fi Remote Monitoring Kit (sold separately), allowing access to features like email status updates and remote monitoring.
9. WHAT TO DO IF 6000W INVERTER CANNOT POWER ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES?
First, check if the 6000W inverter’s output power meets your appliances' requirements. If there’s a warning, follow the User Manual’s instructions.
10. WHAT TO DO IF THE USAGE TIME OF AN ELECTRICAL APPLIANCE IS TOO SHORT?
If different appliances have different power requirements, the inverter’s discharge efficiency will be less than 100% (around 95%). Thus, actual usage time may be shorter than theoretical time.
