Solar Heating
Efficient Solution for Heating and Cooling Your Space Using Solar Energy and Air-to-Air Heat Pump
If you’ve built a log cabin or garden office and want to use it all year round, you'll need efficient heating in winter and cooling in summer. The simplest and most cost-effective solution is to combine an off-grid solar system with an air-to-air heat pump.
Modern solar panels are designed to generate electricity even in low light conditions, so whether it's cloudy or raining, you can still power and heat your off-grid log cabin, garden office, or tiny house with solar energy. The UK’s weather is not an impediment here! We recommend combining solar panels with air-to-air heat pumps given their low power consumption and a high, around 400% or higher, efficiency rate.
This combination has several advantages compared to traditional electric heaters or infrared heating panels:
- Air-to-air heat pumps excel in energy efficiency. They can achieve an efficiency rate of around 400% or higher, meaning for every unit of electricity consumed, they produce up to 4 to 5 units of heating or cooling power.
- Air-to-air heat pumps are easy to install. Unlike traditional heating systems that may require extensive home alterations, these heat pumps can be set up with minimal modifications.
-
These heat pumps are energy-efficient and, hence, can be paired with renewable energy sources like solar panels. This combination can significantly reduce your carbon footprint and energy bills.
- VAT free for installation.
The heating requirements of a room with an air to air heat pump depends on various factors, such as room size, insulation, type of glazing and ceiling height. In mild climate zones, use approx. 60-70 watts per square metres for calculating requirement, but up to 70-85 watts per square metres should be the benchmark used for colder climates. The heat pumps we offer are based on 75-85 watts per square meter assumption.
